About six months ago, I met Beverly Yablin and spoke with her about this Hospital Arts program called DooR to DooR and after looking at the fine drawings in her portfolio, invited Beverly to join me to bring her art to the patients.  

 

Beverly has made the rather long trip from Saxapahaw several times now.  We have visited adult patients and pediatric patients.  Each visit is even better than the last.  With great skill and beauty, Beverly offers to draw for each patient, whatever would brighten their day,  Some allowed her to draw a portrait, some of the younger patients wanted a picture of a favorite animal, or a super hero.  The drawings are wonderful and elicited great surprise and delight at the detail, the accuracy and the delicacy of the renderings.  Beverly made many people very happy, which changed their day around, from the worry that is almost constant in a hospital, to a normalcy, smiles and some laughter and much gratitude.

 

The addition of her charming puppet added another dimension, let there be some interesting interaction with the children.  More laughter.
